Skydive Training
FAQ
Although we do not require a Tandem Skydive for your first jump we do recommend it. A Tandem Skydive can serve as a good base and learning tool to understand the principles of freefall, canopy control, and landing!
Is there a weight limit to do AFF?
In general, you must be 250 lbs or under. We can make some exceptions on an individual basis.
Are there any physical requirements to do AFF?
You need to be in good physical and mental condition in order to go through AFF. If you have any concerns on your eligibility to join the program please give us a call.
I have a physical disability. Can I still participate in AFF? Yes, we are able to accommodate many physical disabilities through the use of adaptive equipment and techniques. Please contact us with any questions specific to your condition. We are able to accommodate a wider range of disabilities on a tandem skydive.
Do I need a reservation?
Yes, we schedule your First Jump Course instructor based on reservations. Please sign up by 5pm the day before you intend to start. You can sign up for your First Jump Course here and select any of our training packages on arrival.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my ground school?
Class is held rain or shine, the ground portion of the training contains a lot of information so even if you can’t jump that day you will spend your day learning.
Why does it take so long to do the ground school?
Unlike a Tandem Skydive, you are solely responsible and will be in control of your own parachute at all times. Your training will include emergency procedures, proper parachute piloting and landing, and freefall safety. You can expect the ground school for your First Jump Course to take approximately 4-6 hours.
How long does it take to get your license?
It’s entirely up to you. Some people take months to complete the program while some complete it in as little as 2 weeks. Time, weather, and dedication are all factors that determine how long it will take.
How many jumps can I make in a day?
You will only make 1-2 AFF jumps your first day, as the First Jump Course takes 4-6 hours. On subsequent days, you can make 1-4 AFF jumps, depending on many factors. Once you are cleared to solo status, you’ll easily make 3+ jumps a day if you make the time and prepare properly.
What do I need to bring to my First Jump Course?
A valid photo ID, loose comfortable clothing, a pair of sneakers, and lunch.
How can I start preparing for the First Jump Course?
You can prepare for your course by reading materials (pages 15-34) from the Skydiver’s Information Manual, published by the United States Parachute Association. Click here for a link to this document. It is best to avoid trying to “learn” ahead of time from online forums and YouTube videos as they often contain gross misinformation.
