SkyDance SkyDiving has been operating in Yolo county airport since 1987 and is home to 10 acres of everything you could possibly need to have an amazing time. With a family atmosphere our aim is to provide a home away from home for all those who visit. Our goal is your complete and total satisfaction in your skydiving experience.  May it be an event of a lifetime!

Our core values form the fundamental basis of how we we perform work and conduct ourselves at SkyDance SkyDiving. These values support the vision, shape the culture, and reflect what we value in our everyday attitude as well as how we share our sport with new skydivers.

Safety

Safety is a major part of our core values and we strive to make skydiving as safe as possible for everyone involved.  This involves going above and beyond the standard requirements for skydiving operations as set out by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the United States Parachute Association (USPA).  SkyDance SkyDiving decided long ago that we would not compete on prices in a business where potential disaster may be avoided with money spent on aircraft maintenance, parachute gear, and proper training.

Experience

We opened our doors in 1987 and have operated in beautiful Davis, CA since. The first Tandem Skydiving program west of the Mississippi started right here. Over the years we’ve helped develop improvements to equipment and training procedures to bring skydiving to the level of safety that exists today.

We also wrote the manual adopted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on jump aircraft operations, setting a new standard for the skydiving industry. We also helped develop and operate the world’s only aircraft specifically designed for skydiving, the PAC-750XL.

Independently operating pilots, USPA rated instructors, and support personnel bring a diverse and complete range of experience and skill to the operation. Some of the most experienced instructors alone have decades in the sport and have made in excess of 10,000 jumps! Whether you are just getting into the sport, or looking to set a new world record in excess of 30,000’, we’ve got you covered.

At SkyDance, you’ll find an energetic and passionate community of skydivers. We are a turbine dropzone with a Cessna vibe and like to think that we’re the friendliest dropzone in California. We welcome jumpers of all experience levels and disciplines to come see what we’re about. Respect, positivity, and acceptance of all remain core values here at SkyDance.

Passion

SkyDance SkyDiving is home to experienced individuals who put skydiving first.  We love our sport and want to share the experience of freefall with everyone who is interested in trying it for the first time or those wanting to learn and improve their skills.  For this reason, every tandem student that jumps with SkyDance SkyDiving is treated as a student and can take an active role in their skydive.  Each student receives proper instruction on skydiving and the tandem gear and will have the opportunity to “Pull the Ripcord”, fly the parachute, and learn about the wonderful sport of skydiving.  Skydiving with us is an experience, not just a thrill ride.

SkyDance Facilities

Covered Indoor & Outdoor Packing

All jumpers are welcome to pack inside of our padded-floor main packing hangar! For busy days when it’s full, we have plenty of grassy outdoor packing area covered with sun shades.

High-speed WiFi

The dropzone is covered with multiple access points to allow you to be on our high-speed fiber WiFi.

Accommodation

SkyDance offers FREE overnight camping and clean, well-maintained, bathroom and shower facilities. Jumpers wishing to stay for the weekend are also welcome to van/truck/car camp in their vehicles in our dirt parking lot. If you are looking for accommodations with more amenities than camping there are many hotel options in the nearby towns of Davis, Winters, or Woodland.

Gear

Every two years we replace our parachutes with new equipment even though the old parachutes are still airworthy. We only accept the latest, proven technology in parachute gear to ensure that your skydiving experience is as safe and fun as possible.

Dog Park

SkyDance loves our furry four-legged friends and has an on-site dog park! Come spend the day, or weekend with us, knowing that your four-legged friend now has a safe place to roam free while you jump. Our dog park is free of charge for customers and all we ask is that you help us maintain a clean facility by cleaning up after your dog with the provided stations. Dogs must be attended to and on-leash while not in the dog park.

Dogs are not allowed anywhere else on the dropzone facility except in a vehicle or tied-up at a campsite at night.

USPA Group Member DZ & Training Center

The United States Parachute Association (USPA) is the governing body for the sport of skydiving in the United States. USPA sets guidelines and provides recommendations which help to mitigate risk within skydiving as much as possible and ensure consistent qualification levels and standards.

USPA Group Member drop zones are those which have affiliated with the USPA and therefore abide by the rules they set. All of our instructors are USPA certified, meaning they have undertaken extensive training and proven their abilities through examination.  The USPA also maintains the Basic Safety Requirements (BSR’s), a set of voluntarily followed safety guidelines, issues sport skydiving licenses, provides the course guidelines from which instructional ratings are issued, provides third-party insurance for skydivers, and serves as a legal advocate and political lobbyist for skydiving.

By choosing to jump at SkyDance SkyDiving, you can be assured of a level of quality that can’t be guaranteed at non-USPA centers. When learning to skydive at SkyDance, you’ll be working toward a USPA qualification which is recognized worldwide.

SkyDance Aircraft

SkyDance’s fleet is designed to meet the needs of student jumpers and experienced alike. Our airplanes are maintained to FAA Part 135 standards – a higher standard than the FAA requires for skydiving operations. In addition, we require specialized jump pilot training for every pilot. SkyDance’s fleet includes the following aircraft:

Pilatus PC-6 Porter

The Pilatus Porter is known as the world’s leading STOL (short takeoff and landing) aircraft, capable of operations from short, unprepared runways, and ski/float operations. Powered by a PT6A-27 turbine engine, the Porter carries 9 jumpers to altitude in approximately 15 minutes. The large sliding door, jump step, grab bars, camera step, and strut allow for a wide variety of exit configurations. Many an 8-way team have launched linked exits over the years from this aircraft!

Cessna 172

The Cessna 172 is one of the most common aircraft used in skydiving. It fits up to 3 jumpers and allows us to continue sending loads even on slow days.

Action Air Parachutes is an on-site, full-service skydiving gear store and rigging loft for all of your skydiving gear needs.  Action Air Parachutes gear store carries the latest and greatest skydiving equipment, including the highest quality helmets, altimeters, goggles, new and used rigs, and much more.

The rigging loft at Action Air Parachutes is a full-service facility providing skydiving gear repair and maintenance. Our team of Master and Senior Rigger’s, along with the most complete loft facilities in Northern California, can provide for all of your rigging needs for major or minor repairs.
